Bring computer science into your classroom with Experience CS
Experience CS empowers Primary and Junior Cycle teachers to deliver computer science through a curriculum mapped to national standards. By seamlessly integrating computing concepts into core subjects like Maths, Science, and the Arts, these resources make digital learning part of the everyday classroom with no prior CS experience required.
Powered by Raspberry Pi pedagogy, the platform features a school-safe Scratch code editor, ready-to-use lesson plans, slides, and teacher guidance. The full collection will comprise 18 cross-curricular units (3 per year group from 3rd Class to 3rd Year), available in both English and as Gaeilge. Start exploring today!
Is your school ready?
Computer science is entering the Irish curriculum.
Primary
The new Science, Technology and Engineering specification puts computational thinking at its heart from junior infants to 6th Class. From September 2026, every school will begin implementing the new curriculum areas on a phased basis, with full implementation by 2031/32. Schools that build staff confidence in computing now will be ready when STEM's turn comes.
Post-primary
Computing at post-primary is optional but growing fast. A revised 100-hour Junior Cycle Coding short course, now including AI and ethics, applies to incoming first years from September 2026, and Leaving Certificate Computer Science numbers keep climbing. Experience CS suits delivery as a Junior Cycle short course or a school-designed Transition Year module, giving students a route into computing before senior cycle.
Experience CS lets your school build these skills inside the subjects you already teach. Our fully funded training shows you how, step by step.
